Counts of Hervías' tower

The arms of the lineage of Zúñiga were originally: in field of gules, a gold band. The King of Navarre Sancho VII “the Strong” changed his shield, that took a saber eagle, putting in field of gules a gold chain of eight links per tassel and an emerald in its center.

His cousin Íñigo Ortiz de Stúnica, II count of Marañón, lord of Stúnica, Mendavia and other towns, increased his shield putting the chain of gold of eight links by border.

His son Diego López de Stúnica, again changed the arms of his lineage in 1270, as a sign of mourning for the death of the kings San Luis IX of France and Teobaldo II of Navarre. The arms of the lineage of Zúñiga are since then: in silver field, a band of saber and putting in border, brochante on the whole, a chain of gold of eight links.
