Geographic Situation and Climatology

La Rioja is a relatively small valley in the north of Spain traversed from northwest to south east by the Ebro River whose special climatology, essential for the quality of its wines is very influenced by the geographical situation.

To the south we find the mountain chain of the Sierra de la Demanda, which protects us from the cold of the Castilian plateau. To the north is the Sierra de Cantabria, raising the clouds and preventing the excessive humidity of the Basque Country from settling in this area. To the northwest we find a gap between the mountains of the Sierra de Cantabria, which lets the Atlantic winds pass through, making our wines, in Torremontalbo, have a great longevity.
